Pain

Yesterday, I played badminton again after a long hiatus brought about by the holidays. And I didn’t just play, I played hard. So today when I woke up, my muscle were screaming in agony. Someone (Marcinko?) said pain is good, it lets you know you’re alive. Oh yes, I do feel so alive. Argh!

Badminton Milestone

Another badminton day, another badminton milestone. We have this running match-up since I started playing doubles: Edong and Jem vs James and I. So far we have been losing. But today we finally won 2-0! Woohoo! Time to think about that badminton racket milestone again. Yeah I got a guitar already, but I still don’t have the racket. Says a lot about my priorities. Haha.

Badminton Milestone

This morning, I played badminton. Actually, It’s been a regular thing for a few weeks already. But today is special because I hit a milestone: I played my first scored game! Yeah! It was a doubles match and we lost 2-1. But hey we fought hard :P Now, though it’s still several milestones off, I’m now looking forward for that milestone when I get my own racket. But then again with my playmates having so many rackets why not just borrow? Hmmm.

Badminton Day

My sister Elwyna and I joined James and Edong for badminton today. James and Edong played with some of the regulars while Elwyna and I who were newbies at this practiced swinging the racket and hitting– or more like not hitting– the shuttlecock. It was newbies’ practice but we still got quite a workout– mainly from picking up the shuttlecock. I was experimenting with using the racket with my left hand and I was surprised at the amount of control I was able to exert. I think I’ll stick with with my left and once I refine control, I’ll work on power. Then on to actually playing. Looking forward to more badminton days in the coming weeks.

Badminton

I went with my brother James and brother-in-law Edong to observe them playing badminton. I’ve played badminton before but not in a long long time. I’ve practically forgotten everything about it so it was as good as new to me.

Playing itself seem to be quite interesting. It was pretty fast-paced and dynamic. They worked up a good sweat in just a short while. However, just watching for three hours (are they hard core or what?) sure is boring :P

At the end, I decided to try it out. It would be a great opportunity to bond with them while playing. And maybe even with friends who play badminton. That would be pretty much everyone, so yes I’m feeling a bit left out. Another reason I want to try it.

Our next stop was to get a pair of shoes. We went to a nearby mall where they helped me pick a good but inexpensive pair. Badminton is hell on shoes and you gotta pick a good one. It is the most important piece of equipment for this game. They also tried to convince me to get a racket but I decided I’ll try out theirs first. Less expensive entry :D
