Michelle had to go to this funeral cum get-together with friends (in this country, practically everything is a social event) so I had to drive and drop her off so she can go to the funeral while I then went on to take Jeanne to the in-laws. Would have been a breeze except that I got bitten by a nasty bug, probably during the holidays, and it’s rearing it’s ugly head. Normally colds would just be sniffles or a congested nose at worst but this one gave me a fever and a bad headache. When we got to the in-laws I had to babysit Jeanne for an hour or so before I got a chance to lie down. I didn’t know who’s been lying on the bed nor what they did but at that point I couldn’t care less. Lying down never felt so good!
Malling With Jeanne
Michelle was attending her company Christmas party (Bah, humbug!) so I was going to be left to babysit Jeanne. Since staying at home where she has a predisposition to mommy would likely have been difficult, we decided I should go to a mall where she has a predisposition to daddy.
So equipped with the stroller, the baby bag, and a stuffed toy (Violet, James’ birthday gift), we dropped off mommy at the party venue then proceeded to the mall. After several minutes of strolling around, I decided to have dinner at Italianni’s since Jeanne didn’t have the appetite for rice since she got sick. The staff were nice, giving Jeanne a nice wooden high chair, a drawing board, and a pen. As she proceeded drawing random lines on the board, I ordered lasagna and pizza.
After dinner, we again strolled around the mall. At one point, Jeanne played with bubbles some kids blew her way with their bubble generators. She also pushed the stroller around with me supporting her. Finally, we decided mommy had enough fun and went to pick her up. Jeanne was already crying.
When we got to the party venue, I opened the car window hoping she will be distracted by the lighted Christmas decor. Instead, she peered out the windows and cried her lungs out for mommy as people leaving the party passed by. After what seemed like an eternity, Michelle finally arrived and Jeanne stopped crying. Whew! I think we’ll set a curfew for mommy, right Jeanne?
Jeanne Is Out!
Finally, Jeanne is out of the hospital. Last Monday, she had a vomiting spell and diarrhea so, that night, we decided to take her to there. After an interview, the pedia ordered her confined and so that’s where we spent the next three days and nights. They ran some tests and they think it was a virus which is quite common with kids. They gave her a generic treatment regime and an IV drip to prevent dehydration. She seem to have responded well and the doctor allowed her discharge today. Just as well since she was becoming bored and cranky being stuck to a very small radius within the bed. Now on to the birthday celebration!
My Biggest Fan
I was sitting on theĀ sofa practicing the first few notes of Spanish Romance on the guitar when I noticed Jeanne, who was with Michelle at the dining table, looking at me. Then suddenly she started clapping! Beat that Justin Bieber!
Jeanne Waves Bye-Bye
