Home DIY Day 2

James had bought a new dead lock and we scheduled part 2 of Home DIY today. Before going to James’ place, I dropped by Big Bert’s for a car wash where I bumped into Tyrone, a former colleague and we were able to chat and catch up a bit.

After the car wash, I proceeded to James’ place to install the dead bolt.  Making the holes on the door was a snap with my trusty drill and we ended up with pretty neat holes.

Unfortunately, I lacked the chisel for the faceplate so we couldn’t complete the installation.Good thing the resident handy man dropped by to install the air conditioner and it turned out that he had a chisel. After he was done with the air conditioner, he completed the dead bolt installation.

Afterwards, we had lunch and coffee with Alex. We also invited Drawde who lives in the area but it turned out that he was out of town. Too bad since I haven’t seen him in quite a while.

The Lenten Diet

It’s Lent again. People are fasting and/or abstaining from meat and poultry as a form of penance. Instead, those who are not fasting are eating seafoods. Fastfood joints are offering fish this, shrimp that and restaurants are seeing a boom in seafood orders. Now isn’t there something wrong here? Not only is seafood healthier, it’s also better tasting! Where’s the penance in that? Is it paying the higher price of seafood? But seriously, it really shouldn’t be about what you don’t eat.

Ralco Short Throw Shifter

Leslie recently got back from NJ and today gave me the Ralco Short Throw Shifter (STS) Kit for the Genesis Coupe that I ordered and had delivered to him. It’s a complete kit containing a well-machined shifter (a very good copy of TWM Performance’s STS), a shiny height-adjustable shift knob (not gonna be installing this as I prefer the stock knob), shift boot retainer, and all the necessary nuts and bolts. Can’t wait to have it installed!

PLDT-DigiTel Share Swap

Two days ago, there was an 18% spike in the price of DigiTel because of rumors of it being acquired, supposedly by San Miguel who denied it. Unfortunately, I had let go of DGTL a few months back because it wasn’t moving and I figured I’ll just get back soon as I have some cash back. Unfortunately again, I never got back. Besides, I wouldn’t have been able to take advantage of the spike as my horizon is more than a single day.

Fried Anything

There was a time when I loved fried anything: chicken, pork, fish. You name it, if it’s fried I love it. But those days were long gone. These days, the aroma has become a stink, the crunchiness has become dryness, the juiciness has become greasiness, and the taste has become simply salty. Not that I wouldn’t eat fried. It’s just not my first, even second or third, choice.

UPDATE: Guess what was for dinner? Fried chicken wings! :P
