Today is our wedding anniversary and I surprised Michelle with a Cuisinart Mini-Prep Plus Processor. Jeanne has been eating solid foods and has recently moved on from fruits like papaya and banana to cooked foods like potatoes and squash. Although relatively soft when cooked, they still require quite an effort to mash. I figured a food processor is in order.
The Mini-Prep Plus is a simple, easy-to-use device. It has a small 3-cup bowl and a single blade attachment that doubles as a chopper or a grinder depending on the direction it is turning. You can control this via two buttons on the base aptly labelled “chop” and “grind”. Either button allow you to “pulse” for a short, quick, burst of chopping/grinding (useful for chopping and granular grinds) or “continuous” for long burst of chopping/grinding (useful for pureeing, blending, or fine grinds).
It’s a bit more expensive than the food processors you see in most appliance stores but it definitely is better looking. Although it’s part of the Cuisinart “Brushed Chrome Series” but there’s definitely no chrome, much more brushed chrome, here. The only thing that remotely look metallic is the silver-painted plastic base. But, overall, it actually looks reasonably good and would fit in perfectly with the typical professional-wannabee (i.e. black-and-stainless-steel) kitchen.
As for durability, everything except the blades is plastic. But it has a 3-year guarantee which means the manufacturer thinks it won’t break for at least 3 years, so it must be tough and durable. It better be since it’s gonna be in regular use for the next few months.
Happy anniversary, babe! :*
