Hangover

Got wasted last night. So wasted I puked (haven’t in years). So wasted I got a hangover this morning. I think it was the chicken. Yes, definitely it was the chicken.

Black

by Pearl Jam

Sheets of empty canvas, untouched sheets of clay
Were laid spread out before me as her body once did
All five horizons revolved around her soul as the earth to the sun

Now the air I tasted and breathed has taken a turn
And all I taught her was everything
I know she gave me all that she wore

And now my bitter hands chafe beneath the clouds
Of what was everything
All the pictures have all been washed in black, tattooed everything

I take a walk outside
I’m surrounded by some kids at play
I can feel their laughter, so why do I sear

And twisted thoughts that spin round my head
I’m spinning, oh, I’m spinning
How quick the sun can, drop away

And now my bitter hands cradle broken glass
Of what was everything
All the pictures have all been washed in black, tattooed everything

All the love gone bad turned my world to black
Tattooed all I see, all that I am, all I will be

I know someday you’ll have a beautiful life, I know you’ll be a star
In somebody else’s sky, but why, why, why
Can’t it be, why can’t it be mine?

Badminton

I went with my brother James and brother-in-law Edong to observe them playing badminton. I’ve played badminton before but not in a long long time. I’ve practically forgotten everything about it so it was as good as new to me.

Playing itself seem to be quite interesting. It was pretty fast-paced and dynamic. They worked up a good sweat in just a short while. However, just watching for three hours (are they hard core or what?) sure is boring :P

At the end, I decided to try it out. It would be a great opportunity to bond with them while playing. And maybe even with friends who play badminton. That would be pretty much everyone, so yes I’m feeling a bit left out. Another reason I want to try it.

Our next stop was to get a pair of shoes. We went to a nearby mall where they helped me pick a good but inexpensive pair. Badminton is hell on shoes and you gotta pick a good one. It is the most important piece of equipment for this game. They also tried to convince me to get a racket but I decided I’ll try out theirs first. Less expensive entry :D

Children Of Men

Children Of Men is set in a gray dystopian London of the future. Mankind is on the verge of extinction because of no children being born for previous eighteen years. The world is in chaos as desperation and gloom set in. Theo (Clive Owen) was contacted by Julian (Julianne Moore) to help her with a mission. The initially reluctant Theo eventually was convinced. What happens next is a frantic run while being chased by those who would stop the mission. During the whole thing, Theo doesn’t go around dispatching his enemies left and right but he’s as heroic as any, more so even. Some claim this movie is the new Blade Runner. I’m not quite sure about that but it is nonetheless a good sci-fi/action movie.

Lunch@ADB

Had lunch at ADB today with Aby, Car, Julie, Kelay, and Lem. I ordered and ate a lot: fried rice, Peking duck, shrimp balls, a fruit plate, papaya shake, and even a bottle of water (crazy since the water from the water dispensers are sure to be really clean). And though I wouldn’t say the food was spectacular (but then again I’m not really a food person), it’s nevertheless pretty good. And that’s from a company cafeteria. In fact, it would be good to work at ADB if only for this reason. Hmmm.
